Laurentians & Lanaudière Best Hikes

Are you looking for your next hike? Chasing hikes that have great views and are nearby? Well, we have the solution for you. Below, you’ll find our top 10 hikes in the Laurentians and Lanaudière.

With several mountains, these two administrative regions are full of treasures for outdoor lovers.

*The datas on the specifics of the hikes were taken from Alltrails.com
  • Intensity: hard
  • Lenght: 11.7 km
  • Elevation gain: 589 meters
  • Duration: 4 h 15 min
  • Fee: free

Are you looking for THE spot where you can see endless mountains? This is where it happens! This hike offers two viewpoints. The first is located at the Le Mésangeai rustic shelter and is perfect for taking a break and eating your snack. The second is located at the Montagne Noire belvedere and offers a 360° view which, between us, will amaze you.

With its 11.7 km and high level of difficulty, this is the most difficult hike on our list. However, the view you get at the top is well worth it. It’s also a hike to do in summer as in winter, but with its many fir trees, it’s a must in winter.

Hikes Laurentians Lanaudiere
  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 5.8 km
  • Elevation gain: 356 meters
  • Duration: 2 h 15 min
  • Fee: 9$/adult (in French)

As the second highest peak in the Laurentians, Mount Kaaikop doesn’t yield its position easily. When the sky is clear, you can even see Montreal. That being said, the trail has a good climb in a short amount of time so it may be more difficult for some.

On the other hand, the view is magnificent and is 100% worth it. The point of view is also very wide so we have plenty of space to eat and enjoy the view. This hike is as sublime in summer as in winter, but its fir trees make it a must during the winter season.

  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 9.0 km
  • Elevation gain: 363 meters
  • Duration: 3 h
  • Fee: 9$/adult
The Nez-de-l’Indien hike offers you a superb view of Lake Tremblant and the village of Tremblant as well. The point of view which is located on large rocks is perfect for settling down and enjoying the view.

We would recommend doing this hike more in the summer and fall than in the winter. As the forest is full of deciduous trees, it’s less impressive than a hike in summer or fall.

  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 8.0 km
  • Elevation gain: 356 meters
  • Duration: 3 h
  • Fee : 9$/adult
The view from La Corniche is absolutely beautiful where you can see mountains and Lake Monroe. If you want to enjoy the view without sweating too much, it’s also possible to do La Corniche only. This hike takes about 1 hour.

Also, the location of La Corniche is really perfect for pairing your hike with some paddle board or kayak on Lake Monroe afterwards. You can either bring your own or rent one on the SÉPAQ website.

In the end, this part of Mont-Tremblant National Park is perfect for a short weekend getaway. There are even several campsites in the Diable sector.

  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 8.0 km
  • Elevation gain: 424 meters
  • Duration: 3 h
  • Fee: 9$/adult
Mount Nixon is definitely a hike not to be missed. Its cachet is due to the particular shape of the surrounding mountains.

It’s a beautiful hike to do in both summer and winter, but the colors in the fall are particularly beautiful.

  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 8.0 km
  • Elevation gain: 354 meters
  • Duration: 3 h
  • Fee: free (in French)
Mount Sourire and Petit Carcan is a great hike in summer and winter alike. It offers 4 points of view if you complete the loop. Personally, the first point of view is the one we prefer with the view of Lake Ouareau.

If you don’t feel up to a hike, you can go to the first viewpoint only, which is a 3 km round trip walk. The good presence of fir trees on the trails makes it a great hike in winter.

  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 7.4 km
  • Elevation gain: 283 meters
  • Duration: 2 h 30 min
  • Fee : free (in French)
Mount Lafrenière is a little gem that we recently discovered. Its moderate level of difficulty and its short duration make it a hike that is not too strenuous. The viewpoint is perfect for laying down and sunbathing while having a beautiful view of Lake Ouareau.

The view of the lake is great, but having done this hike in winter, I think I would recommend it more for summer and fall. As the trees present are mostly deciduous, it’s empty in winter on the trails. Still, the view was worth it.

  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 8 km
  • Elevation gain: 377 meters
  • Duration: 3 h
  • Fee: free
Do you want peace? Mount Gorilla is perfect for you as it’s still uncrowded. Its viewpoint is magnificent and overlooks Mont-Tremblant National Park.

Since there are more deciduous trees there, we would recommend this hike more in summer or fall than in winter. However, having done it in winter, the last climb before the viewpoint was still hazardous. Super icy with ropes here and there… Long live the crampons as they say!

  • Intensity: moderate
  • Lenght: 6.3 km
  • Elevation gain: 375 meters
  • Duration: 2 h 30 min
  • Fee : 7$/adult (in French)
Located in the Sept-Chutes regional park, Mont Brassard is another great hike to do in winter due to the presence of fir trees on the trail. There is also a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Lake Rémi.

Did you know that you can also rent a rustic shelter in this park (in French)? For our part, we stayed in the 7e ciel shelter and it was a really great experience (although a few adventures on the trails with our sledges).

We highly recommend the shelter as it’s new, clean, well displayed and it even has lights! It’s also well located, near Lake Rémi and the Mount Barrière hike is nearby.

  • Intensity: hard
  • Lenght: 5.3 km
  • Elevation gain: 309 meters
  • Duration: 2 h
  • Fee: free (in French)
Mount Ouareau offers beautiful scenery in both summer and winter, but I would recommend it more in summer or fall. It’s not a long hike, but there are a few good climbs making it rated as difficult.

However, it’s obvious that the climb is worth it when you reach the top and you have a superb view of the mountains and Lake Ouareau.

Conclusion
