For us, when planning to spend the afternoon lounging on a lake, we don’t usually bring them. However, for river descents, we find them very useful. Rivers often have banks where it’s possible to stop. Water shoes are practical for walking on unstable rocks to reach the beach.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, in high-water flow situations or emergencies, wearing water shoes can prevent worsening injuries. Choose durable and comfortable ones.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can find many affordable models online. Ours <\/span>almost feels like wearing slippers when they’re on your feet, and they’re very slip-resistant, which is why we love them!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A replacement fin might seem unnecessary, but in reality, it can be very useful! During our trip to Gasp\u00e9sie, we descended the Bonaventure River where the river bottom was not really deep. We spoke with others who had done the descent before and had broken their fin.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, we opted to paddle without a fin, thinking it might be a good idea to avoid breaking it. However, our paddleboard became difficult to control, veering in all directions.<\/span><\/p>\n

We strongly advise always using a fin. Some paddleboards come with 3 fins (2 small ones and a larger one), while others have only 1 fin. Generally, the large fin is about 9 inches tall, and the small fins are around 4 inches. Therefore, if your paddleboard has 3 fins and you plan to navigate shallow waters, it’s better <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

to remove the large fin. If your paddleboard has only one fin, we recommend getting a second shorter fin for such situations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do your research to ensure the fin is compatible with your paddleboard, although the attachment method is typically quite standard.<\/span><\/p>\n
