The one and only Upper Gasp\u00e9 (Haute-Gasp\u00e9sie)! This part of the Gasp\u00e9sie peninsula was definitely the highlight of our road trip.<\/strong> Since we are mountain lovers, we already knew this part would be our favorite and that\u2019s why we finished our trip there. And let\u2019s say we weren\u2019t deceived. Just the 192 road from Forillon National Park to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts was stunning. The view of the mountains along the coast with the ocean was a perfect road trip vibe.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Hiking<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Of course, if you\u2019re going in this Park, the main activity to do is hiking. There are so many amazing hikes it\u2019s hard to choose which one you will do! We originally wanted to do three hikes, but because of the weather, we only did two. We hiked Mont-Albert and Mont-Ernest-Laforce<\/strong> the morning we left. They are two remarkable hikes that we strongly suggest you do. This one the most unique hike<\/strong> of Gasp\u00e9sie national park. Its particular vegetation is truly why it stands out from the others. You have two options for hiking Mont-Albert. Mont-Albert north face trail<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

The starting point of the trail is near the Discovery and Visitors center<\/strong> where you can park your car. The beginning of the trail is not that hard with a slow ascension. Then, once you pass a small open stream, the ascension is steeper. Overall, the trail is considered hard<\/strong> but it depends on everyone. Of course, once you arrive at the top the hard work is well rewarded. <\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s unique about Mont-Albert is that you have one part which is the typical beautiful green mountains, but on the other side, you have a totally different scenery<\/strong>. You can observe the Canadian tundra<\/strong> with brownish fields upon the mountains. It\u2019s really special and you might have the chance to see caribous<\/strong>. Mont-Albert loop<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

As said earlier, we didn\u2019t do this one and only did the north face trail. But once we arrived at the top, we told ourselves that we maybe should have done it. It\u2019s because the trail continues among the tundra which were pretty amazing. We also didn\u2019t have the chance to observe caribou and maybe if we would have done the full loop we could have seen some. But we\u2019ll never know! Mont-Ernest-Laforce<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Another great hike less popular is Mont-Ernest-Laforce. This one might be less famous because it\u2019s a shorter hike. The trail is only 4,5 km<\/strong> long and the elevation gain is about 187 m which makes it an easy hike.<\/strong> It\u2019s a really good choice if you have childrens, but even if you don\u2019t, we truly enjoyed this hike. We were told by a SEPAQ employee to do this hike early in the morning<\/strong> because we would have good chances to see moose<\/strong>. When you check all the photos on Alltrails, you\u2019ll see that many people see some. Unfortunately, we weren\u2019t lucky and didn\u2019t see one.<\/p>\n

That said, we still fully enjoyed hiking Mont-Ernest-Laforce. What\u2019s special about this one is the 360\u00b0 view on many mountains of Gaspesie national park.<\/strong> Located in the middle of these, Mont-Ernest-Laforce offers a view of Mont-Albert, Mont Xalibu, Mont-Jacques-Cartier and many more. Since we didn\u2019t have much time, we did this hike the morning we left the park and it was a great decision. We really recommend it to you and hopefully you\u2019ll see moose. Another great hike we wanted to do was Mont-Xalibu, but because of the weather, we couldn\u2019t do it. This one is about 11 km<\/strong> and has an elevation gain of 571 meters. Mont-Xalibu\u2019s special attribute is its particular mountain shapes. They\u2019re unique and the trail also brings you to a small lake with a viewpoint on the mountains. Looking for a nice spot for kayaking or SUP? Lake Cascap\u00e9dia<\/strong> is the place. If you don\u2019t have your own kayak, you can also rent one here. Surrounded by mountains, this lake is a beautiful place to relax and observe moose or other wild animals. As we told you, there are many wild animals<\/strong> at Gap\u00e9sie national park from bears to caribou<\/strong> and moose. To increase your chance of seeing them, you should start your hike early in the morning<\/strong>. The fewer people there are, the more chances you have to see them. This hike was one of our favorites<\/strong> because it has something special. Unlike the others, this trail crosses 7 summits<\/strong> so you practically always have a panoramic view<\/strong> of the other mountains. With its 11,9 km<\/strong> and its 968 m<\/strong> elevation gain, it\u2019s considered a hard hike.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The beginning of the trail is also very steep<\/strong> and you\u2019ll be happy to have your hiking sticks.<\/strong>This part of the trail is covered by different sizes of rocks and they tend to slip on each other which makes it harder to hike. If you have hiking sticks, you\u2019ll find it easier since you can have more control on these.<\/span><\/p>\n

BUT, let us tell you that all of this is 150% worth it!<\/strong> Once you arrive at the first summit, all this ascension seems far away. The scenery is spectacular<\/strong> with a view on all the summits you\u2019re going to. This one is shorter with a trail of 6 km<\/strong> and a smaller elevation gain of 442 m<\/strong>. Although it seems easier, Mount Hog\u2019s Back is considered a hard hike<\/strong>. This SEPAQ\u2019s reserve has many different species<\/strong> which you can hunt. There\u2019s the snowshoe hare, moose, bear, Ruffed and Spruce grouses. 1. G\u00eete du Mont-Albert<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

We cannot talk about Gap\u00e9sie national park and don\u2019t talk about the G\u00eete du Mont-Albert. This unique hotel stands out because of its location. In the heart of the park<\/strong>, G\u00eete du Mont-Albert is surrounded by the impressive mountains. While you can stay at the hotel, you can eat at their restaurant or bistrot even if you stay at a campground. 2. Microbrewery Le<\/a> Malbord<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

If you plan on going out of Gasp\u00e9sie national park, there\u2019s a nice microbrewery in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts.<\/strong> Located about 30 minutes<\/strong> from the park, <\/span>Le Malbord<\/a><\/strong> offers a nice variety of beers and snacks. We went there because there was heavy rain and were not deceived.
